Hilton Paris La Defense – Hotel Review

Hilton Paris La Defense – Hotel Review

This Hilton is based in the business district of La Defense, to the West of central Paris. This is not the Paris you might imagine from the movies but it trades historical value it makes up for amazing travel links, pedestrianised areas and modern, comfortable buildings.

This Hilton is based inside CNIT, the first building in this area. CNIT is a multiple purpose building, with a convention centre, a shopping centre, a university campus, direct links to the train station as well as the hotel. The hotel is currently owned and operated as a franchise of the Hilton brand.

Map of the Hilton relative to the centre of Paris, it is West of Paris Centre.

The main La Défense station, sometimes known as La Défense–Grande Arche, connects the Tram Line 2, Transilien (Commuter rail) lines L and U, Metro Line 1 and RER A.

As it’s on the RER A line, this means a direct connection to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy station for Disneyland Paris. It’s around 1 hour travel time in each direction. Check out our Disneyland Paris Travel Guide 2024 for more information.

There are quite a few hotels in this area, and whilst being a little out of the centre of Paris if you’re comfortable using public transit it’s a really good option as an area to stay in.

This Hilton is currently being refurbished, with the majority of works now complete with the exception of a dedicated entrance which is due to be complete in May 2024. As it stands, the entrance is inside the shopping centre. The shopping centre closes at 2100 local, after this time the staff will buzz you in from the shopping centre entrance.

For this trip, we were upgraded to the ‘King Relaxation Room’ from the booked ‘King Deluxe Room’. The main (or only) difference is the inclusion of a bath with spa features.

The cost of the room booked was €317 per night (total, with all taxes and fees), which includes a buffet breakfast each day.

Th entire hotel is themed about 1960s ‘French Glamour’, and this room really embodies it. As a newly refurbished room, it has pretty much all of the features you’d expect from a 4 star hotel.

The modern, large TV is on a swing arm. As with most European hotels there is no VOD or smart features, just hotel information and a good selection of TV channels. The HDMI ports are enabled, so you can hook up a laptop or Chromecast if you want to watch your own content.

There is a seating area with a coffee table, not big enough to have a 3 course dinner but plenty big enough to have some late night McDonalds after a long day of sightseeing or Disney.

The bed is big and comfortable, using the normal Hilton bedding and mattresses. 4 pillows are supplied, and 2 more were in the wardrobe. On both Bed Side Tables there are a pair of USB ports (USB A and C) and a French power socket.

The room layout was a little weird, with the wardrobe and counter being behind the bed backboard. This means the bed is in the middle of the room.

In this area you have a full height wardrobe (with hangers), a suitcase stand and a counter top with tea and coffee making facilities and an (empty) mini fridge to keep your food/drink/medication cool.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and the room was perfectly comfortable for that length of stay. The blackout curtains were incredible, and really did block out ALL of the light.

The staff were really good too, we had an issue with the air conditioning on the first night and they managed to resolve it very quickly and with no fuss. The staff won’t pretend to be your friend, but they are very friendly, efficient and professional.

Whilst the high rack rate (might put some people off, this is well worth the cost in our opinion. Redeeming Hilton Honors points would be a good way of saving some money for your next Parisian escape.
